this auto post shit is wicked

hopefully at the time this is posted, i’ll be a few km away from the computer. why? i really need to pick up my stuff from downtown. you know, shit like my official UofT transcript and other relavent documents to ensure i’m still a licenced teacher in ontario.  as for auto-post, it should kick in at 5pm when i get off work.

m’nleon on the horizon

since i have a legit WORKING copy of ableton now, i guess there’s no excuse to drag my heels on the bajillion mixes i’ve been piecing together over the past 2 months. the problem is, i’m already sick of what i’ve created. they sound so dancy in the sense that they’re very cliche. i’m upset because i really want to make ambient and loungy music like air and zero 7. not bass thumping tunes like the crookers.

i’ve been very inspired after watching my cousin work on his comp, seeing the beetroots, aoki and going through my library of eclectic euro, south american and indie electronic music. those very things have also held me back. there’s so much polish and professionalism in the tunes that i feel very amatuerish. i’m also afraid of aping their sounds.

!segue!

there’s nothing more annoying than copycats. wow. haven’t heard that term in a while. fine. there’s nothing more annoying than biters and ape’ers. and i’d hate to be one. i’ve had my shit ape’d and bitten since high school up until now (web page layout, art style, actual art etc.) and it still irks me when it happens. and it happens right in my face. i’ll do something, present it and literally 2 days later, someone shows me their ‘version’. really now? like… fuckin’ grow some creativity/originality beans!

it’s ok to be inspired. just don’t… bite. there’s plenty of niches to fill.
